Travel,  I find the nicest route from Redditch is through Warwick

Travel time about 35 minutes.

It is a fairly easy walk through golf course, paths, fields and short road through houses.

No Stiles, No Stingers and No hills, should be no mud - Ideal for wearing of shorts.

Tuesday 3rd August 10am (Long distance Walk )

The walk itself will start at 10.00am (departure time from Redditch would be about 8.30am) and we would park in the centre of Church Stretton at the Easthope Road car park (post code SY6 6BL).

We head north from the car park to All Stretton, this introduction provides us the opportunity to prepare for the climb which starts about 2 miles into our walk. The climb onto the ridge of the Long Mynd is over a length of about 2 miles and we gain about 900ft, a further 100 ft of ascent over a further mile will bring us to the highest point and our most likely lunch stop at Pole Bank, if it is windy we can drop down off the top to Pole Cottage which is where we lunched on our previous trip.

In the event of inclement weather a shortened route can be taken from here down to Little Stretton but in the past, and it would be my intention, is to walk further along the top almost to the glider station before turning SE and heading down to Minton where we pick up a very quiet road for about a mile back to Little Stretton where liquid refreshment has often been taken on previous walks. It all depends upon our time.

From Little Stretton our route can either be along the valley road back to Church Stretton or my preferred route, which does require a slight climb, this contours around the hills above the town before descending into Carding Mill Valley and back down into the town. The full distance is 12.8, the road option about 12 miles and the escape route direct down into Little Stretton and along the road about 10.4 miles.
